Carol Sedlacek's Story

Carol Sedlacek

After her second knee replacement, avid pickleball player Carol Sedlacek once again insisted on Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation - Outpatient Therapy to guide her recovery.

“Without PT (physical therapy), I would not be able to go back to playing pickleball at the highest level that I've been used to,” she said. That’s why she turned to physical therapist Stephen Black at our Highway 290 center in Austin.

Once she knew that she needed another total knee replacement, she said, “I got ahold of Stephen and said you are my PT guy this time around... working with the same therapist has helped me with consistency and trusting him that he has helped in my recovery.”

Stephen developed a treatment plan that included a variety of strength and flexibility exercises. In addition, they worked on Carol’s reaction skills with reflex training tools.

Carol also offered this advice for others considering physical therapy: “Make sure your physical therapist is very well rounded in sports injuries. Especially in total knee replacements. Make sure they are up to date on all the newest therapies and are open to try different ones. Last but not least, have a good connection with your therapist.”

Carol is now back on the path to playing pickleball at her best. Thanks for your trust in us, Carol!.
